Job Description
Our client, a leading global agricultural and soft commodities house is seeking for an experienced Chief Accountant. You will be reporting directly to the MEA Controller
Job Purpose:
To be fully accountable for the accurate and timely production of:
• Statutory Financial reporting
• Variance reporting
To support the ME Controller on other financial activities within Dubai (budget, reforecast, governance, treasury, IT projects and financial/operating controls). To ensure robust & comprehensive internal controls are in place
Job Background/context:
The Chief Accountant is responsible for all matters related to statutory financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
• Day to day management of Accounting Department;
• Monthly production of statutory accounts for the business;
• Monthly analysis of actuals vs budgeted figures with regards to G&A;
• Quarterly production of detailed statutory reporting for consolidation;
• Responsible for all of the financial reconciliations including balance sheet;
• Ensuring reliability and integrity of the company’s balance sheets;
• Ensuring compliance with all accounting regulatory requirements;
• Responding to all audit and other external examinations and reviews w.r.t. overheads;
• Ensuring integrity of related internal controls with reference to Group policy;
• Providing accurate information to support the annual budget & reforecast process;
• Maintenance of accounting system to support business requirements;
• Production of consolidated accounts for external reporting;
• MEA super user for LDC’s global accounting system;
• Provide support to ME Controller

Previous experience of/as:
• Accountant preferably in public company or subsidiary of public company.
• Exposure to IT

Knowledge of:
• Internal controls
• Operational risk
• IFRS
• Financial and Management Accounting
Skills:
• Financial accounting – Intermediate
• Competency in Microsoft applications including Word and Excel.
• Written and oral English – very good
• Experience of ERP
• Minimum of 6 years experience
Qualifications:
• Relevant Financial Degree or similar tertiary qualification
• Chartered Accountant or equivalent required
