National Program Officer for Protection Jordan – 100 % Vacancy



The National Program Officer for Protection is a new position to SDC Amman Office. She/he is responsible for development cooperation and humanitarian assistance programmes and projects mainly in the field of protection in Jordan and the region including Iraq. In addition she/he supports the Swiss Cooperation Office in Amman (SCO) with multiple tasks.



Duties & Responsibilities:

The National Program Officer for Protection is closely working with the Director of Cooperation to the Jordan field office. This includes the following tasks:
•Monitor, follow-up and accompany a number of development cooperation and humanitarian assistance projects including both desk work and field visits.
•He/she will have to cover the assigned projects under all aspects such as:
A)Assisting in identifying possible partners
B)Preparing appraisal documents, and project monitoring
C)Report writing, and networking with public organizations, IOs, NGOs and other donors.
•He/she will also be requested to contribute to the organization's internal reflection on strategic themes and issues.
•Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor or the Regional Director

Skills
•Excellent drafting and oral English skills. Very good written and oral knowledge of Arabic.
•Knowledge of other languages (French and/or German) is an additional asset
•Excellent computer skill (MS Office), and similar applications
•Autonomous, proactive and shows flexibility and availability
•Able to work under pressure in a rapid changing regional context.
•A high degree of flexibility and adaptability given the difficult humanitarian context
•Empathic attitude toward beneficiaries and colleagues
•A high degree of capacity to work in a team with good communication skills (team player and communication)
•High motivation and commitment to work for a development and humanitarian agency
•Excellent analytical skills and capacity to investigate and report on complex realities. This includes the ability to reflect strategically and operational wise.
•In depth experience and skills for managing projects (with preference for projects of Gov. or non-governmental organizations in the field of humanitarian aid and/or development assistance.
•Good management skills including Finances and Administration
•Ability to travel abroad when needed

Experience and Education
•Minimum 35 years old
•M.A. in Social Development, Political Science, Law, Economics and/or related field
•5-15 years of successful development and emergency related work experience with an international organization, large professional NGO or bilateral development cooperation agency mainly in the field of protection
•Experience in fieldwork and readiness to undertake field visits throughout Jordan and possibly the region
•Familiar with international standards and requirements relating to development cooperation and humanitarian aid
•Solid knowledge of project management (in the entire PCM cycle from identification- monitoring- finalization) including the finance and HR management
•Valid driver's license.
