Job Description and Requirements
A leading contracting company is seeking to recruit a qualified and motivated employee for the following vacant position;
Duties and responsibilities:
•To perform technical evaluation of BOQs, specifications and drawings in the tendering stage and price the project accordingly.
•To perform quantity take-off accurately from hard/soft copies of drawings.
•To collect quotations from suppliers according to project specifications, review quotations for conformity with required specifications, quantities and suitability for the project.
•Price all kinds of electrical items in projects, breaking down the cost to L, P, M and other costs.
•Analysing final cost figures (from sub-contractors, previous projects) , breaking down the cost to L, P, M and evaluating it.
•Prepare technical and commercial proposals.
•Perform value engineering on tender bids, giving alternative price offers based on results.
•Maintain and upgrade existing suppliers and price data bank, and look for alternative sources for best prices.
•Manage and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors with a keen eye on expanding our suppliers’ data base and building special relations to enhance the organisation’s competitive position.
•Participates in contractual terms and conditions (clients, consortia, subcontractors, suppliers), risk reviews, contract structuring and negotiations, tax issues, cash flow analysis, assignment conditions, etc.
•To assemble and develop a systematic procedure for project cost control, project cost reports and cost forecasts.
•Interpreting the contract docs concerning electrical works (contract conditions, specification, drawing etc).
•Prepare, follow-up all the technical submittals for the approval in timely manner.
•Implement the procurement requisitions and orders and follow up deliveries of procured items.
•Processing monthly invoices for electrical works, review and approve suppliers’ and sub contractors’ payments.
Skills
•Bachelor Degree in engineering preferably Electrical, or similar technical qualification.
•Minimum 6 years of experience in estimating and cost control for MEP contracting industry operations.
•Knowledge of engineering, construction techniques acquired by hands on experience in the MEP contracting industry.
•Experienced in Tendering / Bidding For High Rise Buildings, Hospitals, Five Star Hotels, Compounds, Industrial projects ..Etc.
•Capable of composing and preparing BOQs from drawings and specifications.
•Ability to communicate and work using English.
•Computer literate especially with Microsoft Word, Excel and AutoCAD.
•Ability to accomplish project objectives in a timely manner.
• Supervision level experience in the field of cost control and reporting
•Ability to contribute effectively in variations & claims analysis.
•Has a solid background and knowledge of the main items in electrical works, in terms of prices, suppliers, alternatives, and specs.
