Job Description and Requirements
Basic Functions
• Leads the implementation of quality assurance program in the operation department.
• Assures a safe and hygiene work environment
• Organize all production and related activities meeting department objectives.
• Assess training needs for the operators. Coordinates training activities.
• Coordinate between shift groups and optimization of plant resources to achieve optimum performance including weekends and holidays.
• Review plant progress and problems each day and coordinate resolution.
• Responsible for the raw material and packaging material requirements planning, production schedules, production reports, breakdown reports and any other work assigned by the management.
Organizational Relationships
• Reports to the Operations Manager
• Working relationships with production engineer, maintenance, quality control, Administration, purchasing, finance, sales and IT.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Leads the implementation of quality assurance program in operations, including the scheduling of internal audits, corrective actions and self-improvement programs. Ensures program implementation is effective and resources are trained.
• Optimizes unit production and raw materials consumption. Includes reviewing operations for potential areas of improvement, determining how improvements can be achieved, evaluating feasibility and implementation of agreed improvements.
• Training operation personnel in new and existing method of operation of plant and machinery. Train new shift supervisors.
• Ensure high standards of housekeeping are maintained in all production areas.
• Investigates operation and product quality problems and recommends solutions.
• Preparing production and wastage reports break down reports and devising new ways and means to control break downs. Ensure smooth running of plant and machinery at all times.
• Provides day to day work direction to Shift Supervisors.
• Check stock level of all raw materials, additives, and packaging materials to ensure a sufficient and adequate stock level. Continuously reviews the requirement of production items against the availability and raises requisitions for changes or new stocks for new and existing items. Raises purchase request as needed.
• Verifies failure analysis of breakdown reports to ensure its correctness and issues corrective recommendations to prevent re-occurrence of failures, discusses the problems with all concerned personnel to reduce break down to a minimum.
• Cover for production engineer’s absence.
• Carries out other similar or related duties such as assisting the operation manager in budget proposal, shift supervisors in various function for his own developmental purposes i.e. developing an operating manual, developing standard operating procedures manual, etc. and acting as operation’s representative to local industry organizations.
Skills
Educational Qualification
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Chemistry
Experience
• 3 years process or mechanical engineering experience. Good knowledge of English
Special Training / Skill
• Trained in nonwoven production technology.
