Speaking in numbers, we are 23,000 people with 325 offices in 125 countries around the world. And our more than 600 ships sail every major trade lane on the globe carrying about 2,350,000 containers and making about 35,000 port calls every year.
Put differently, we’re the largest shipping company in the world with a global market share of 15 %.
A global network of opportunities
Who we are is of course not about numbers, but also about how we work and what we have to offer.
Nevertheless, the numbers mentioned above are proof that we’ve been successful in driving our business and creating value for our customers in the past.
And they also give you an idea of what we offer our customers today. When they do business with us they get access to our global network. And to the knowledge and expertise that has accumulated in our company since it was established back in 1928.
In other words, we provide opportunities in global commerce.
Visionary leadership and innovation
The reason for our success lies in our eagerness to constantly improve our business through optimization and innovation.
There’s nothing new to this. We’ve been at the cutting edge of the container shipping industry since the 1970’s. We’ve continuously pushed the boundaries in developing the world’s leading reefer technology. And we’re known and respected for our many efforts to reduce our carbon footprint.
So for us, it’s a given that we should continue to take the next step in the container shipping industry – through visionary leadership and innovation.
There’s more to shipping than… shipping?
And this is exactly what we’re doing by applying a stronger customer focus and by focusing on three areas:
1. Being easy to do business with
2. Delivering unmatched reliability
3. Providing the best environmental performance
These three points were initially identified by our customers when they told us that there’s much more to shipping than… shipping. What they want is a seamless and reliable process, and the lowest possible carbon footprint.
So today, through long and hard efforts, this is what we have to offer. Even though the journey has just begun – with many more improvements to come.
